FeedbackFruits originated at the Technical University of Delft, the Netherlands, out of a desire to stimulate interaction between students and teachers. The lecture hall was a one-way delivery system for information, offering little opportunity for student engagement. As dedicated (former) students, PhDs, and teachers, we saw the lack of interaction as a major obstacle standing in the way of universities fulfilling their crucial societal role of turning their students into informed, critical citizens.

Overcoming this obstacle is central to the mission: helping teachers build engaging learning activities that spark students’ critical thinking. We have developed —and continue to develop

— a suite of pedagogical tools that integrate into most learning management systems. The modules enrich the existing digital infrastructure, which flattens the learning curve for teachers and students. We focus on:
- peer assessment & peer feedback
- Online discussions
- activation of study material
- classroom interaction & Team Based Learning

Improving education is our primary concern in everything we do. FeedbackFruits has been self-funded from the start, and has reinvested all proceeds into the further growth and refinement of the business. Over the past seven years we have firmly established ourselves as one of the foremost innovators in education.
Over 60% of Dutch institutions for higher learning have entered into a long term commitment with FeedbackFruits. This has resulted in a stable business that has seen a repeated growth rate of 100% every year. In 2015, partner universities at the time asked FeedbackFruits to organize a way in which universities could work together and in this way speedup Edtech development in the Netherlands. As a result, in 2016, FeedbackFruits created the Onderwijs Doetank (EdTech DoTank), a consortium of innovators where we co-create plugins that support interactive learning activities. With our co-creative partners we continuously sharpen the cutting edge of educational innovation.
